An English Learning Schedule for Kids: A Printable Weekly Plan (10 Minutes a Day)

Consistency matters more than quantity. A child who gets 10 minutes every day gets ahead of one who gets two hours on Friday. Here is a weekly schedule for teaching kids English, ready to print, with a box your child colors each day, plus an 8-week plan that covers the whole free book.

By the Kitabcom Education Team · 20 October 2026

Suitable age
4 to 8 years
Suggested time
10 to 15 minutes a day, 5 days
What you need
A printer for the schedule sheet, and the free book
After this lesson, your child can:
  • a ready-to-print weekly schedule with boxes your child colors in.
  • what to do on each day of the week, minute by minute.
  • an 8-week schedule that covers the whole book.
  • how to use the schedule without it becoming a chore.

The Weekly Schedule

DayActivityWhat to do (10 minutes)
SaturdayNew words4 words from the week’s topic: picture and audio, and your child repeats them. Then a game of “Where’s the…?”.
SundayA letter soundOne letter: its name, its sound and a word. The letter’s song. Finger tracing.
MondayWords + a sentence4 more words, and the week’s sentence: I like… or This is my…
TuesdayA letter sound + readingA second letter. Then read a three-letter word using the sounds your child knows.
WednesdayA gameA whole game with no lesson: letter hunt, a talking page in the app, or role play.
ThursdayWriting + reviewOne worksheet from the topic’s sheets, and a review of the eight words and two letters.
FridayRestNo lesson. A song in the car if you like.

Why this order? Two days for words and two for sounds, because they’re the foundation of reading. The game in the middle breaks up the week. Writing comes last because it’s the hardest on the hand.

Three Rules for the Schedule

  1. The same time every day. In the afternoon, or an hour before bed.
  2. Every session ends with success. The last minute is something your child knows well.
  3. The schedule is for your child, not against them. If it becomes a reason for tears, ease off. Read My Child Doesn’t Like English.
🏠 Try It at Home Today

Print the schedule today, write your child’s name and the week’s topic, and color the first star.

🏫 For Teachers in Class

A schedule in each child’s folder; in kindergarten the teacher signs the star instead of coloring it.

Summary

  • One day for each activity: words, sounds, a game, writing and review.
  • Only 10 minutes. The schedule is for consistency, not quantity.
  • Your child colors the day’s box after each session. 5 boxes = a small reward.
  • Each week matches one unit of the free book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 10 minutes enough?

Yes, for a child under 7. A young brain learns in the first 10 minutes, and what comes after is lost. What matters is doing it every day.

We missed two days. What should we do?

Carry on from where you stopped, without making up for it. Making up turns the session long and dull. The schedule serves you, not the other way round.

Does the schedule work for two children of different ages?

Yes. Same topic: the older child takes more words and writes, while the younger one listens and colors. And they play together on Wednesday.

How do I print the schedule?

Press the “Print the Schedule” button on the page, and only the schedule sheet prints. Or download the free book, which has each unit’s plan in the Parents’ Corner.
