Common Mistakes: Colors
Some English sounds don’t exist in Arabic, so children often get them wrong. Here’s how to help:
Arabic has no P, so children say B. Hold a strip of paper in front of the mouth: it moves with P and stays still with B.
Say it “OR-inj”.
It starts with a “y” sound: YEL-oh.
Teach the whole sentence: It’s red.
A 5-Day Plan for Parents
Ten minutes a day is enough. Review yesterday’s words before new ones.
- Day 1: red, blue and yellow.
- Day 2: green, orange and pink.
- Day 3: purple, white, black and brown.
- Day 4: play “Find a color” around the house.
- Day 5: the worksheet and the “Listen and Touch” game.
