For Parents
How Can I Teach My Child English at Home?
You don’t need fluent English. A little time every day, a clear book and plenty of patience are enough.
1
Five Minutes a Day
Does more than an hour a week. Pick a fixed time: after breakfast or before bed.
2
Sounds Before Names
The letter s sounds like “sss”, not “ess”. With sounds, children read their first word quickly: s-a-t → sat.
3
Play, Not Tests
Look for colors around the house, count the stairs, sing the days. Children learn while they play.
4
Praise the Effort
Correct pronunciation gently and only once, and praise the attempt before the accuracy.
5
Left to Right
English is written from the left. Start tracing with your child from the green dot in the book.
6
Review Before New
Go over yesterday’s words before adding new ones.
